A revised version of the Traditional Pilates method in which elements of stretching, muscle strengthening and postural control are combined to help improve flexibility, strength and body awareness where the pace of each exercise is set by your breathing and the movement during the exercises is slow and fluid.
Modern Pilates may include, for example, the use of elements such as hoops, fitballs or elastic bands, in order to add greater intensity and variety to the exercises. It may also incorporate elements from other disciplines such as yoga, functional training or strength training. In addition, there is often a greater emphasis on deep muscle work, mind-body connection and body awareness.
In short, modern Pilates is an evolution of the original Pilates method that adapts to current needs and preferences, such as postural correction or muscular strengthening of the core and posterior chain of the body, incorporating additional elements and techniques to make it more dynamic, effective and personalised.
